Pickleball Billy

Here is a man enjoying himself in The Villages. He lives there, full time. There he is known as Pickleball Billy. Back here where he was from (Haverhill), we know him as Ambassador Billy Hartig, a good man, a good friend and a great advocate of pickleball.

I may be a little older

And feeling a little more pain

But it won’t keep me away

Cuz pickleball’s my game

Soon I will head south

With paddle in tow

Golf clubs in the trunk

get ready, get set, go

Evenings I’ll be dancing

Under an assumed name

But mornings I’ll be ready

Cuz pickleball’s my game

If I don’t come back

There are others prepared

To make the load light

When duties are shared

Of course in good time

After searching for fame

I’ll return more humbled

Cuz pickleball’s my game

Friends and family count most

At the end of the day

And we have more fun

Cuz of the game we play.

May your winter fly by

No intent to inflame

Wellesley Beginners

Pickleball For Beginners

Learn to play the fast growing sport with the funny name.

Have you ever played ping-pong, tennis, racquetball, badminton?

Whether you played a “few” years ago, yesterday or never, pickleball is the sport for you.

You will be taught to play in a no-judgement class. All ages welcome.

Lessons will cover the basic rules of play, strokes, strategies and etiquette.

The court is about half the size of a tennis court and usually played “doubles” or

mixed doubles. You will use a paddle a little bigger than a ping-pong paddle and a whiffle ball. (supplied by the Rec Dept.)

Classes are small (usually no more than 6) so you will get personal attention.

This is good opportunity to get some exercise and meet new friends.

Wear court shoes or sneakers and comfortable loose clothing, suitable for exercising.

Four classes: 90 Min ea. Class schedule: Jan 9, 23, 30, Feb 6
