Christmas Decorations with Pickleballs

I’m assuming your home is decorated and you’re finishing up those holiday gifts and crafts. Well, in case you are running behind and need some ideas or want a peek into some creative ideas from players and clubs like Colorado Pickleball Club, Wickenburg Parks and Recreation, Lisa C, Ron M, Sandra S, Leonardo G, Joe from Comox Valley Pickleball, Becky B, and Michael S, here you go:
Now you know why you SHOULD save all those cracked pickleball and re-purposed them into festive creations. Each holiday you can make something out of pickleballs.
Want some more photos, check out a post from a few years ago: Holiday Crafts with Pickleball
Might as well throw in a Christmas Pickleball Poem by another talented player, Greg LaVelle
Twas the night before Christmas
And out on the courts
Were all types of people
In tennies and shorts
All of them beaming and shouting with joy
Happy as children with a new Christmas toy
Out of their bags, colorful paddles appeared
To the kitchen they scurried, lined up, and cheered
Let’s dink it and drop it, let’s volley and kill
The balls started bouncing as if without will
The sound from the paddles and balls as they rose
Moved all of the players to the tips of their toes
Cross court and forward, balls started to fly
When appeared an old player with a wink in his eye
Dressed in all red from his head to his toe
A smile on his face and a warm, cheery glow
0 0 2 he shouted as he served me the ball
He moved like the wind, barely saw him at all
Then all of a sudden, it was 11 to 0
As we lightly touched paddles, he said he must go
Before I asked where, he disappeared in a haze,
But I heard his farewell while still in my daze
“Keep playing and laughing and having your fun!
Merry Pickleball to all, my work here is done!”

And if you’re still with me and looking for some homemade, holiday pickleball tunes check out these girls from Atlantic Pickleball, YouTube song:
Wishing you a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Pickleball in Paradise, Anyone?

We conceived the Minto US OPEN Pickleball Championships to be the premier pickleball tournament in the world. And it is. This past April 2,000 players from 47 states and 20 countries battled it out for 7 days on 50 courts.
But who knew that over 10,000 spectators would travel to Naples, Florida to cheer on the competitors and party until the wee hours. Well, besides them.
Anyway, the formula remains the same for the 2019 US OPEN Pickleball Championships. Showcase the greatest pickleball players in the world at the biggest pickleball party in the world in the most beautiful vacation spot in the world. Simple, huh?

Belmont Gathering

The Belmont Players Outdoor Season came to an official end with a "Gathering" at Donahue's in Watertown.

In a few short years Belmont has become an important Pickleball Center.

And now that colder weather is here, indoor play at the high school is available.

Thanks to Joan Quinzani for organizing last night's time.

Wakefield

Wakefield Changes to Schedule from Michael Rubin
There has been some concern from players about the scheduling of the “leveled" playing sessions in Wakefield on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Many people feel that it would be better to vary the start times for advanced beginners and intermediates to give everyone an equal opportunity for both morning and afternoon play.

In order to more fairly accommodate players of all levels, we are going to make a small change to the schedule:
  • The early session (10am) will be designated for intermediate play on Tuesdays and advanced beginners on Thursdays
  • The late session (noon) will be designated for advanced beginners on Tuesdays and intermediate play on Thursdays.

Hopefully, this will allow players to come to the sessions that are matched to their level of play and give everyone enough times to play during the week. Remember that there is open play for all levels on Monday and Wednesday mornings, and leveled sessions on Friday evenings.

Thanks to everyone for their understanding as we try to fine-tune the schedule to accommodate the growing demand for pickleball in Wakefield and throughout the area.

REMINDERS:
There is no pickleball on Friday, October 26.
There will be one final Sunday session (all levels) from 12:30-3:00pm on October 28
