Pickler of Distinction

Noel Doherty

The first words most young children speak are either Momma of Dadda. This wasn't the case for Noel. Actually, he a had a whole sentence, "how can I be of help". His parents were in shock but those of us who know him are not surprised. Noel is always there when something important is happening in the world of pickleball. He was instrumental in getting Burlington up and running and has been a court manager for most of our local tourneys. This along with running a successful business, having the best pball attire and being an all round great guy makes Noel a Pickler of Distinction.

Where did you first hear about PBall?

I read on the Reading Rec home page that they were offering an 8 week class to learn PickleBall, having played tennis for years, I signed up!  Peter Sullivan was the lead, assisted by Mary Ann and Rosemary Dissel ably assisted.  8 weeks later I was on the I V, hooked for life!

Where do you play now?

Actually I play all over, Burlington, Wakefield, Reading, Bedford VA, and West Peabody. In the Winter, Home of the US Open, Naples Florida.

What do you like most about PBall?

It's difficult to select one particular "like"...in no particular order
The people you meet!
It's Fun....Adrenaline Rush...Helps you stay in shape...Competition

What is your favorite vacation Spot?

Anguilla...a small island off the coast of St Martin...the most beautiful beaches in The world...no Cruise Ships...

What is your favorite movie?

King Rat, starring George Segal, survival in a POW camp in WW II

What advice would you give new players?

Go on You Tube, a incredible resource!  Subscribe to PickleBall 411, Sarah Ansboury, CJ Johnson, PickleBall Central.  Practice, Practice, Practice.

I set up a practice area in my garage...tape 36" up on the door...and a line 7' from the door,
Great for Volley and Dinking practice.
