Pickleopolis
Pickleopolis from Sue Carnvale
We still need a few volunteers to help demonstrate/teach/ share your enthusiasm on three courts at the Danvers Family Days. Date: Sunday June 28th at the Holten Richmond Middle School from 11-3. Please let me know if you can assist.
The benefit in Wilmington last weekend was quite a success!! It was also a lot of fun. Players from the Braintree Area made the trek up to support the event. Peter Sullivan reported that close to $3000 was collected for cancer research. Congratulations to all winners. Photos of the event are available on Peter's Boston Blog.
The week has brought us lots of pickleball to look forward to here on the North Shore. We can now play on the two courts at Collins Cove in Salem!!!! Please see the attached photo. We do however, need a few volunteers to help set up and take down the nets. Please let myself or Rick Haigis know if you are available. I believe Rick is looking for morning /afternoon and probably early evening shifts.
By the end of the week, the two courts at Obear Park in Beverly will also be ready to go!!! Again, we need volunteers to help set up and take down the nets. I am looking for morning/afternoon and early evening shifts. If anyone has access to a lock box, we may be able to keep the nets on location. Please let me know if you can assist.
New Hampshire Senior Games and
Massachusetts Senior Games are in August

The Southern Expedition
So it was only a few towns south of " The Bridge" and well worth the drive. The Braintree folks couldn't have been more accommodating with great courts and friendly players. They were even more friendly when they beat us. Thanks to my fellow northern pioneers Hank McLaughlin, Marjorie Berger, Jane Flynn, Rosemary Dissel, Judy Forester, Rob Evans, John Donovan and Larry Dukatz.
A good time was had by all.

Why Not?
So forget the Mountain Range. We'll take a pass on that but how about the rest of it? There are fifteen pickleball courts down there!
WHY NOT!

A Note from Sue
A Note from Sue Carnevale, our ambassador on the North Shore
Due to very popular demand, the Danvers Indoor Sports will remain open for three more weeks in June. Below is Kerry's note with more detailed information:
Good news - play has been extended at Danvers Indoor Sports for another three (3) Friday nights June 5th, 12th, & 19th. (no bugs, no rain, no wind) Kathy and Kerry will not be in attendance so please bring your own nets. Balls are in the gray bin in the storage room marked FNFB. The winners/ not winners sign is on top of the box. Fall play will begin on September 18th.
The registration deadline for the USAPA Atlantic Region Tournament is approaching.
This tournament, which will be held in Norwalk, CT from June 27th - 29th promises to be the most exciting pickleball event to be held in the Northeast. The venue, The Intensity Tennis and Fitness Club, will feature 14 indoor pickleball courts, assuring a playing schedule with minimum wait times for all age and skill groups.
The sign up deadline is June 8th. Detailed information about the tournament and a registration link is available at:http://www. pickleballtournaments.com/ welcome.pl?tid=454

Remember to check out Peter's Blog at BostonPickleball www.bostonpickleball.blogspot.com
And please support USAPA by joining the membership. $25 gets you a great monthly email, discounts on some products and of course...a great tee-shirt.
I will be away at the Ambassador Retreat next week, learning how to better promote the sport we all love. So... probably no update from me.
Sue
