Barry Welch, Quincy's enterprising recreation director, brings word that the Quincy Senior Olympics, now underway, will serve as a  demonstration site to introduce Pickleball, described as the newest sensation in sports for seniors.

The game is a hybrid of tennis, badminton and table tennis and is played on a court a quarter the size of a tennis court, with hard rackets and a variety of whiffle ball.

Peter Sullivan and three other volunteers from the USA Pickleball Association will demonstrate the game at the Kennedy Center gym on Wednesday May 21 from 10 a.m. to noon. Sullivan will explain rules, game strategy and answer questions.

You can try your hand  and equipment will be provided. Wear sneakers if you want to participate.
